PRACTICAL NURSE PROGRAM

Quality HealthCare Training, LLC School of Practical Nursing offers prospective students the opportunity to receive a High-Quality nursing education that will prepare them to be successful nurses.  The Practical Nurse Program has  morning (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and evening (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) class options.  The PN Program is a 12-month certificate program designed to prepare graduates to provide health care to clients of various ages in a variety of health care settings.

 

 The practical nurse program is sequential and will assist students to develop communication, critical thinking, and problem- solving skills.  Nursing courses are structured to promote student learning through lecture, laboratory, clinical, seminar, and practicum experiences.  Learning opportunities are designed to apply practical nursing concepts in the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health for clients.  Students learn to work collaboratively with other health team members in the health care delivery system.

 

Students who successfully complete the practical nurse program are qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The program is approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

 

Practical Nurse Program Admission Requirements

 

  1. Sign up to attend one of our nursing information sessions.

  2. Submit a QHT application for admission.  The application fee is $65.

  3. Submit official high school transcripts or GED certificates before application deadline.  Application deadlines are June 1st for the fall semester (September) and October 1st for the spring semester (January).

  4. Pass the Nursing Admission Assessment. - minimum qualifying score on the TEAS Clinical Nursing Admission Assessment score is an overall 40%.

    • To be considered for the fall semester, applicants must complete the assessment and all prerequisite coursework by June 1st.

    • To be considered for the spring semester, applicants must complete the assessment and all prerequisite coursework by October 1st.

    • Completion of TEAS test registration and exam (Fee: $50.00 **non-refundable).  ATI also handles test proctoring and it is delivered remotely for $115/student.  You will be required to prepay for this exam.

  5. Three (3) completed Professional Recommendation Forms (Cannot be related to you; No family members, friends, etc.).  Must be completed on the QHT recommendation form.

  6. Submit a one-page essay on why you would like to pursue a Practical Nursing career and what qualities would make you a good candidate for our program.  Must be completed on the QHT essay form.

  7. Personal Interview

Clinical Requirement

  • A drug screening and criminal background check will be required prior to enrollment in any nursing and allied health clinical course in order to ensure the safety of patients in the clinical setting. Students who do not comply with the drug screening and criminal background check are ineligible for placement in clinical agencies and are not able to progress in the clinical program. It is the student’s responsibility to know whether they are eligible for licensure. If a student has a criminal background, it is the students’ responsibility to explore whether the background will prohibit them from being licensed and employed in the health care industry. QHT faculty and staff are not able to provide legal advice. If you have any questions about your background, you may wish to discuss this matter with legal counsel.
     

  • ALL students who accept a clinical seat will be required to show proof of completed COVID-19 Vaccine prior to beginning their clinical semester.
     

  • Quality HealthCare Training, LLC requires students to show proof of health insurance.  QHT does not provide or sponsor health insurance for students. In the event that I sustain an injury while on campus or in clinical, it is your responsibility to utilize your own health insurance plan to cover the cost of treatment and/or follow up care.
